The Portuguese Water Dog Club of America (PWDCA) holds an annual National Specialty.  This year (2022), the 30th National Specialty was held in Frankenmuth Michigan.  H2O PWDs had the privilege of attending to compete with our dogs in both Conformation & Performance. 

We are extremely grateful for all the success we had with Jade & Miller during the week of the National!

Jade started off by completing her 2nd qualifying Working Water Dog run with enthusiasm and excitement.

Monday Aug 22, Jade, Miller & I jumped into Obedience & Rally. Miller started first in the AM with a 30 min warm up after being a show dog for the past 10 weeks.  Incredibly he managed to take a 1st in his Novice B Class to show me how much he misses playing the obedience game with me. 

Jade refusing to be outdone by Miller, pulled a phenomenal 197 in her Open Class, achieving her AKC CDX & taking 1st in her class 😁. 

I am truly humbled as I was surrounded by some of the most beautiful working dogs and their talented handlers in our breed.

Wednesday Aug 24, Miller went back into show dog mode with co-breeder, co-owner and handler extraordinaire Lizzy Volz. He wins the Bred By Exhibitor class and OMG IS AWARDED WINNERS DOG & his AKC CH TITLE!!!!!

After a short break from being awarded Winners Dog, Miller is back in the ring with his Father "Renzi" & half brother "Singe" to compete in the Stud Dog Class.  Laps around the ring begin by many beautiful Stud Dog Trios with much clapping & excitement in the building.  Judge Kimberly Anne Meredith decides that the consistency produced by Sire Renzi is deserving of the Stud Dog Class 1st place award to Renzi, Miller & Singe.  A truly monumental day filled with phenomenal accomplishments. 

What an amazing honour to be recognized at this level at a PWDCA National Specialty!

I was honestly thrilled and feeling very blessed for what the Good Lord had sent our way and had no further expectation of anything more than what my amazing dogs had achieved. 

Thursday Aug 25, Jade & I got our chance to compete in the conformation ring. We competed in the Working Bitch Class. It was my first time in the Class and Jade took incredible care of me by showing like a ROCKSTAR.  The judge looks at us, points her finger and with astonishment, OH MY GOD WE WON THE WORKING BITCH CLASS!

Jade Miller & I also competed in SuperDog and what an incredible accomplishment to finish out the week with Jade ranking #7 SuperDog and Miller ranking #9 SuperDog.
